Intended learning outcomes

Once the student has passed this course unit, he (she) will be able to:

  1. To evaluate the importance of enzyme processes in modern society.
  2. Describe enzyme mechanisms and to know the most common mechanisms of enzyme inhibition.
  3. Understand the different strategies of protein engineering and recombinant DNA technology to obtain new biocatalysts.
  4. Characterize different immobilization methodologies of biocatalysts, as well as to recognize their relevance on an industrial scale.
  5. Develop biocatalysis in non-conventional media and to know their applications in Industry and Medicine.
  6. Describe several types of biosensors as well as advances in the field of biosensors.
  7. Understand the relevance of antibody engineering such as the modification of recombinant antibodies.
